I tried to gather some numbers and the situation is not great. 10 years ago there were 10 jobs for a single dev, now is 1:1.

I'd be great to access some data on how many SDE were in top 1000 companies and how many jobs openings there were in the last 15 years.

Jevons Paradox - there will be more demand for software, but I think devs need to get more entrepreneurial. Teams will be smaller and existing companies may not be able to create enough opportunities.

In the last 30 years it was very to common to have a few junior engineers on the team and you could train them as well as give them tasks which made them positive net contributors. This is no longer true for most junior engineers.

I fully agree. There should be a complete ban on social media and similar addictive platforms for those under 16, and a nighttime ban (10 p.m.–7 a.m.) for users aged 16 to 18.

We basically give cigarettes to children.
