Inspired by the recent Boards Of Canada announcement, I've been in a low-fi electronica mood lately and was going back and forth with Claude on how to design similar instruments in the browser that fit the genre. One thing led to another and pretty soon I had a fully browser based polyphonic synthesizer / drum machine / sequencer.

The interface and workflow was heavily inspired by the Rebirth338 application released back in the 90's, but with lo-fi synth voices rather than the original 303 & 808 emulation.

I know there's a significant overlap of developers and musicians and I though some of you may enjoy playing with the app, or at least listening to the resulting album. I've also open sourced track 1 of the album via the performance script used to record it. It's in the repo.

Ask HN: Moving from Dev to PM

Like many, I'm struggling to find a new role and am thinking it may be time to pursue a new career. I'm kicking around the idea of moving more towards a scrum master / project manager role. Have any of you made the jump and, if so, any recommendations on how to make (or not make) the change?

Checked their map and it's pretty spotty in the areas we're looking: Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, Northern West Virginia. I'll keep an eye on the map going forward to see if they expand.

Ask HN: Is Satellite Internet Viable for Remote Dev Work?

My wife and I both work from home and are looking to move so to a bigger house so we can both have an office. We would also like to move to a more rural area so that we can have more acreage. The problem is that many of the more rural areas that have the homes we're looking for are not services by high speed internet providers.

Does anyone currently use satellite internet? If so, would it be a viable alternative for us? Regarding our specific use case: I work as a front end developer and my wife has an administrative job. We also get all of our "TV" via internet using roku sticks and do not rely on cable.
