Once upon a time I used Twitter's API to scan for tweets that were talking about a particular Wikipedia page. Doing semantic analysis, I did insert the tweets in the right place of the page. I did it as a student, using the free API. Twitter was the open, technically respected network with a great engineering blog. Now it's a political project to elect the extreme-right in Europe.

The homepage could be a description of ATProto. Except lots of people around me already use ATproto, and a successful European instance has just been launched, Eurosky, focusing on expanding the protocol with apps doing other things than micro-messages (Bluesky).

Why should I care ? Honest question.

Thanks ! It's the densest place in the world for restaurants. We're working on a v2 of place search by category, soon to come.

Google's task is much easier on this one : they only show those who've paid ads at high zoom (well at least, that's what we can guess). We're trying to be exaustive, but it's too much in this case.

Great. My map application* has a place review system that was built on Atproto, we don't hold user's reviews, they're public, reusable by others.

In case of data loss, replaying the jetstream was not possible. This v2 with history is perfect.

How are the X figures computed ? Bluesky is a public network, anyone can analyse and count. What about X, held by Musk ?

Cool view ! For France, I've built the first interactive map of all* public transports.

You just zoom on a zone and see the network (the bluish polygons) pop-up, clickable.

Representing trains, that all share a common way but with very different schedules and destinations, is hard. No map is good, all do compromises. Hence I've delayed representing trains, it's too hard.

Actually, people that installed the open-source Saracroche app don't really have this problem anymore.

Credits for this incredible independent app, available on third-party stores. Even better, the dev has added OpenStreetMap information about legit enterprises calling you.
