That’s because fundamentally you need those strategic items to have space to do those particular detail items. If you have the best strategy and no execution, you can probably hire for that. If you have no strategy and decent execution, you are driving the Titanic into the iceberg.

That’s a hilarious comment in the world where companies are getting hacked left and right and consumer data is widely available from how many pieces of software have piss poor security. You might work at companies as where dumb bureaucrats have a tight grip on things, but in most of the world, security practices are not holding us back, they simply don’t exist.

#8 is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entity%E2%80%93attribute%E2%80... and it’s one upside is that it’s very flexible and it’s downside is literally everything else. If you can be 100% certain that all of the destination value types are the same then it can have compressibility benefits.

It’s the same reason why everyone doesn’t wanna read LLM generated blog posts. The agreement used to be generally that you would spend more time writing than I would have to spend reading and when the agreement changes the quality changes as well.

I made a media center replacement for something like plex or jellyfin, streaming video or audio whenever I am; transcoding, subtitles, specialized dupe and renaming metadata. A little automated datawarehouse that manages all my output in an object store. My own tag system of course. A personalized eval system for llm tools.

That has little to do with building code and a lot to do with customers and releases and operations - giant companies don’t just magically demo software to people.

There’s so many layers today that can’t exist if this is the way forward.
