A lot of Claude-isms in this page that reflect the limited creative judgement of the author. It makes me wince as I scroll further and see UX decisions that clearly have no thought put into them ... Just the statistical average of what clean design is meant to be , I suppose

This is why I'm looking into using Guix / Nix for when my home server dies and I need a replacement. Declarative setups make too much sense. The only form of history I have of the weird shit I did with a Mac mini running debian + a LaCiE HDD hub is my .bash_history file, which a chatbot was able to figure out for me.

there is also some janky, cheap feeling lenis-type of scrolling hijacking in place that gets disabled when the viewport is about the size of a phone.

tried to disable it by turning off javascript and the page no longer loads - thus i am completely uninterested in reading this article

I already have, but I wish I didn't have to...I don't see a reason for updates to be this granular especially when the only release notes are the diffs and the commit messages in between tags.

I understand "shipping at the speed of inference", but it makes the people who opt into updates more like testers on a "nightly" release cycle. At that point, I'd call it a nightly.

Opening the app and getting a new sparkle update dialog everytime is getting very annoying…especially for updates that are relatively minor.

just today its gone from 1.1.3 -> 1.1.4 -> 1.1.5 -> 1.1.6 -> 1.1.7 -> 1.1.8 -> 1.1.9 -> 1.2 -> 1.2.2 (skipped 1.2.1?) in under 5 hours. A lot of these could wait until theyre put in a relatively bigger release!

not the design per se (however you are right that theres a lot of swiftui usage here that is only available on newer macos’) but mainly because it is using the new @Observable observation macro that is only available on macOS 14+

I primarily use the M2 iMac's provided at my University Library when I want to have deep concentration on my work. I usually show up without my phone / backpack. I still have access to the terminal and all of the tools, so I grab an Emacs binary from emacsforosx.com + download of the Fork git client to start working. I also have access to the terminal so I can install homebrew (in a non-sudo environment) and install stuff like npm / python packages / etc.

All of the user data gets deleted upon sign out, so there are warning every couple of warning reminding students to back up their work on the cloud or from a usb drive. I just use rclone and back up to my server.

If you do use public computers, do you have access to the terminal? Do you have any concerns regarding privacy? Does your data get deleted on signout, or is it more like a Java Card hotdesking situation? [1]

Oh wow, just tried it and youre right. This is a regression, pre-launch after you finished recording with the global hotkey, the icon in the dock would bounce and it would bring up the main window to start editing. Ill fix this in the next minor release

I would still use Audio Hijack when it comes to recording long-form internal audio like zoom meetings. RM2000 Tape Recorder is meant for shorter, "music-like" recordings.

here is what I would want the average Sample Library for RM2000 Tape Recorder to look like : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJXwCcAR6uw . Its more of a tool like PureRef, Pinterest & Are.na (for grabbing quick ideas) rather than Audacity or Audition.
