these are such classic american thought-terminating cliches. "we have more land and more people than anywhere else" "our population contains too many migrants who aren't as smart as americans used to be" etc etc. the different states and territories that make up the USA all have analogous counterpart countries whether you're comparing climate, population in the absolute, population density, GDP, or any other metric you care to name. many of the comparable countries will have a worse standard of infrastructure than that US state, but there will always be several which perform better, usually utilising fewer resources.
the thing all american states have in common is their american ideology, their american political economy, and their population of americans. it just so happens that these are almost always found, coincidentally or not, alongside extremely outdated and poorly-maintained infrastructure, and a class of ultra-rich parasites hoarding many of the resources. drawing connections between any of these phenomena is left as an exercise to the reader

i think it would be difficult to learn how to reproduce certain phenomena that the models often exhibit. this article breaks down some of them: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50223647

we also don't have to flatten these historical events (snowden maybe making some mistakes vs the US government's spying) so we can pretend that they're of equal valence, scale and severity. they are actually extremely dissimilar and one is very transparently worse and more serious than the other

right, so this is the second one, i.e. the thiel-funded "centrist" magazine that coincidentally publishes writing from people like nina power (famous for having her alt account unmasked and her pro-nazi posts revealed).
far be it from me to criticise anyone for trying to get this website's userbase to care about anything other than agentic LLM lifehacks, but this kind of "philosophy" mag is not really a big improvement if it's just laundering reactionary ideas through a centrist-yet-contrarian technocrat aesthetic

i can never tell between them by the URLs, is this the explicitly far right German Compact Magazine or the less-explicitly far right Anglophone Compact Magazine?
