I don’t know that GitHub per se would be a requirement, But when I think open source - I usually think about being able to browse the code in some type of repository, in a human readable format.
I like to browse a codebase in some way that I don’t have to download and unzip an unknown set of files.

It's an interesting book and I think it's worth a read.
The author, Peter Zeihan, does a good job of melding geography, demographics, energy, and food supply to come up with a deterministic approach to geo-politics.
I have no clue how accurate it is, but it's a fun mental algorithm for simplifying complex and nuanced situations.
His prediction, and I'm paraphrasing here, was that Russian Demographics are more or less in free fall. Every year after ~2020 the Russians have less and less fighting age men and their army will be weaker and weaker.
Additionally, because most of populated Russia is a flat plane, they have no geographic barriers to protect their cities. Therefore they need to forward position their troops in order to feel secure.
So his assertion, was that based on previous Russian military conflicts, Ukraine was the next most likely target, and that if Russia wanted to do anything, they'd have to do something sometime earlier on in this decade. Otherwise they can't field an army of significant size to forward position their troops.

I wonder if it's possible that the increased speed from their downward trajectory generated enough lift to pull them out of their downward trajectory.
This "recovery" would be short, as their air speed slowed, lift decreased, and they then resumed their downward trajectory.

I could easily see someone racking up that much debt. It’s almost encouraged, as part of the whole “going to college experience”.
You take out loans so you can pay for school, pay for room and board, and have enough money to buy toiletries and what not.
if we take a look a few pretty common public colleges that people from my class went to:
BGSU [1] - ~$28,500/year x 4 years = $115,000
Kent [2] - ~$30,000/year x 4 years = $120,000
In all fairness there’s financial aid, and scholarships, and plenty of ways to decrease costs (living off campus, or even living with your parents and commuting, if you live close enough and have/can afford a car). Or attending a 2 year college and transferring.
Now imagine if you went to a private college (rumored to be a “better” education). An example near me:
Case Western Reserve [3] - ~75,000/ year x 4 years = $300,000
Now on top of all that, remember that student loans are still loans, and as such have interest. So while you can defer payments on the loans while you’re still in school, interest still accrues on those loans for 4 years.
And that’s just for an undergraduate degree. Someone with a masters has an additional two years of schooling, and more for a doctorate.
[1] https://www.bgsu.edu/financial-aid/about-aid/cost-of-attenda...
[2] https://www.kent.edu/financialaid/tuition-and-other-costs
[3] https://case.edu/financialaid/undergraduates/cost-undergradu...

To be clear, that's an option in America as well. They're usually called a "Joint Vocational School" or a "Career Center", and they offer a variety of options.
For example the one I went to had:
* Public Safety to learn firefighting and Emergency Medical Services
* HVAC to learn a heating and cooling
* Building trades to learn electrical, carpentry, plumbing
* Software development
* Medical Assisting (a pre-nursing route)
* Cosmetology for hair stylists and makeup artists
* Engineering and Precision Machining Technologies
There are plenty of other options at that specific career center as well.
A lot of my peers 'looked down' on this choice, as they viewed the "college path" as the only option to be successful in America, and considered this an inferior education.
