it's generally another layer on top of things like unit testing, MC/DC coverage, etc. not all programs use formal verification though.

A decent amount of mission-critical software undergoes formal verification, like spacecraft flight software (my area of expertise). SparkADA lives on because of not just its safety, but formal verifiability.

This is why you should have several of them checking against the same rulesets and cross-check them to reduce chasing of false positives.

I have an old 2020 M1 Macbook Air that is on its last legs because 8GB RAM isn't enough for regular use cases. If this had a 16GB RAM option I'd go for it, but alas.
