And Japan's history of planting trees is... mediocre at best. They planted a lot, but pure (now not only useless {no lumber value} but harmful due to pollen fever) monoculture.

The plastic 3d models are mostly in tourist areas.

There are so many restaurants in Japan (especially sushi, soba, tonkatsu, ramen, and izakaya) that have no images whatsoever. Often a handwritten menu or even wall-mounted menus are all that are available.

It's a confirmation bias thing: people come to Japan and go to restaurants with photos on the menu and food models, they think it represents all of Japan. They don't read Japanese, so they may not even know that they walking past a great restaurant without any food displayed outside nor images on menus inside.

But the QC tests to Yazaki's deisred level didn't exist yet, and Tesla did their own tests. And Tesla was maximizing it's "Made in the US" stance, which either goes by weight or components.

So Yazaki was secretly making unlabeled high-voltage connectors in Japan, selling them to Tesla, who could then test them themselves and claim falsely the source of production.

Edit: I also think there's a fear of this: wide acceptance of EVs open the door to BYD (or similar) huge takeover of the car market.

Which is a shame, because it has a perfect combination of short-range needs (I mean, look at kei-cars), tons of wonderful places to hang out while charging (toll-way rest areas are so good), rare sub-freezing temperatures in most of the country, mandatory vehicle inspections (which could collect great safety data as well as preventative maintenance), general love of new cars and brand loyalty, lack of political or individual divide of "big gas trucks are manly", mobile-power-station earthquake preparedness (a nice bonus), generally cooperative nation-wide infrastructure...

I guess we just have to hope the main automakers can hold on long enough for solid-state batteries and move faster than a snail's pace when it does.

However, I live in Japan, where simply finding a doctor qualified and willing to diagnose someone over 20 years old is super rare. Short of expensive monthly trips to Tokyo or something just to be diagnosed, and then having a prescription that has to be received in person monthly. And the medication is highly controlled.

So I have just kinda accepted to keep applying these techniques (as well as being aware of my own created mechanisms), keep trying my best, and just live a happy life. It's been working so far!
