Have you investigated linkedin profile import feasibility yet? Their API is really restrictive and they're blocking most of the hosting provider IP ranges.

Ridiculous that they restrict access to user profiles even if with the explicit user permission (via OAuth).

Let me know if you find a solution :)

SEEKING WORK Location: SE Asia, Remote: Yes, Willing to relocate: No Available: from February till April 2015

I'm usually based in London, UK but I'm going traveling to SE Asia for a couple of months and am looking for a 2-3 days a week remote position to keep my skills sharp.

I have 5+ years experience building web applications using Ruby and Javascript. I'd be keen to do some work with Elixir, Phoenix, Solr/Elastic Search too.

This could work well for a small company that needs an experienced developer for doing things that are not time sensitive or someone who needs a technical co-founder.

Clients can't prevent you from taking time off, you have a complete freedom to choose how much you work in theory. Having said that taking a week or more off during a 3 month contract will no be expected by most of the clients. Taking a day or two off is usually not a problem. It really depends on the client.

There isn't much you can do really. The overall increase in annual tax is not going to be that big. If my calculations are correct, if you want to pay yourself ~100k per year you'll end up paying 2-3% more tax.

The dev scene in the UK is not as great as it is in the US, but it's good. Perhaps the second best after the US.

US is appealing because it's an english speaking country, has a good dev scene and is an interesting country to live in.

I mostly went with them because of their privacy package. They do simplify the process a little bit by putting a nice UI on top of this more manual process [1]. I'd rather pay a few extra pounds than risk submitting wrong information thus creating more trouble further down the road. Perhaps, FUD was playing a role too.

We were looking for something better than campfire and tested slack and flowdock. Settled with flowdock, which in my opinion is much better, but is less hyped.
