GitJournal is great but for 100% support on mobile one can run Emacs directly on their phone using Termux on Android and iSH on iOS.

* GitHub does render .org files just like Markdown!

* I've heard people of people being really happy with Orgzly on Android. I personally run Emacs on my Android phone through Termux. It works really well for me. Other solutions include using a SSH client to connect to a server running Emacs, or simply using GitHub directly on mobile web or their app if your notes are on GitHub.

* I've made the switch from Vim to Emacs (+ evil-mode) because of org-mode and have been extremely happy with it. It truly changed my life.

It actually has a positive impact on the Internet speed! Your DNS results are cached locally so the latency is very low, plus blocking ads at the DNS level means you're not even downloading the ad creatives, resulting in a higher speed as well.

To my knowledge that wouldn't be breaking the law. The law is that service has to be AVAILABLE in French.

I don't think the point is to hide its real location or to hide secrets, but to be able to build services that comply with US classification levels (sensitive, secret, top secret).

I'm a French citizen living in Canada and going fairly often to the US by bus. They do it at land borders too, it's just that Canadian citizens are exempt.
