Imagine the weaponization possibilities when combining the census data with Amazon’s and Meta’s data, and possibly several other datasets readily available to this administration. Whatever is missing from one of them can be inferred or defined from the others. This might already be happening, it can’t be checked. Some (former) dictators would be salivating.

"it’s proof that the rot has been rooted out of Apple’s software design team"
Weird sentence given that three staunch supporters of liquid glass are still in that team, including Lemay. I highly doubt it's going anywhere, hopefully it gets a few more improvements before it will be replaced for The New Thing in MacOS 29.

Steve Lemay was a driving supporter of liquid glass, just like at least 2 other remaining designers at Apple. It's not going anywhere. Hopefully it will get toned down several times over though.

That is true.
I thought this was funny to see as well, although these icons redesigns happen with every MacOS release I think: https://basicappleguy.com/basicappleblog/macos-golden-gate-i...

A good correction. But think about the months of work that has been wasted on creating those icon iterations. What a waste!

Speed, UI improvements, esp in the backend. Vimeo has been languishing for years. If this was all done by the original team, I wonder why they didn't roll it out years earlier. I've switched several clients away because of it.

The entire UI/UX? We went back in time and basically have a text streamer in a 70's style terminal or existing editor-like situation. If you want to read and (hand)write code, sure, you might be done and be happy with the new variant of what you had decades ago.
A UI like Jira/Trello to stage features and see (agentic)team status. A Figma-like UX to actually build out the app/interface/features. A system that aids human review. There's tons of paradigms to explore and improve upon.

So this is explicitly for users/businesses held captive by big tech services and tools, which I guess is a very American way of working for SMB's. Seeing what this could 'automate' for my (European) company, this saves very little time?
Payroll/reconciliation is already a couple of clicks and 2 humans sign off.
A 'morning brief', well lol.
'Growth', how would you not know your numbers as an SMB? Everything is already in a tool with dashboards and reports for people to act on.
Also, I have zero confidence in the example prompt.
This all seems incredibly uninspired.

This requires integration of various systems, apps and services that just isn't possible until Apple really restructures the entire organisation and ways of working. Many things in Apple's first party ecosystem feel developed by teams completely unaware of other team's products.
