That is of course the big question. Longest projects I have running are about 1.5 years old now and used daily by my coworkers. The projects got a huge rewrite when Opus came out.

I hope we can quickly escape these tasks and the focus on coding. It’s all very superficial. There are a ton of serious AI workloads imaginable and I haven’t seen anyone pushing those frontiers, at least not publicly. Nvidia had a shiny keynote about their digital twin of the world for solving large problems but i guess that one died already.

I don't think we'll be looking at code at all within the next few years. I know I already don't anymore. The code is not the product for me, and as long as any model, commercial or local, can maintain it (or recreate it), I'm fine. When I make a drawing in a vector drawing program I don't export to PostScript to see if they calculated the bezier curves correctly either.

I'm convinced most code will be ephemeral in a few years.

I use it to keep tabs on competitors, finding out what potential prospects are posting, mapping out relations between companies in our focused industries, etc. Basically for new business signals.

It’s a great additional channel to find recent info on companies and people. Sites are usually stale, people post a ton of stuff on LinkedIn. We don’t get our clients through linkedin, but it gives our salespeople better angles to attack.

We used it for recruiting but it’s not great for that, tons of low quality replies. We never reach out, i personally hate that.

I think they could remove most of what they have added to the OS in the past 6-7 years and I wouldn’t even notice or miss it.

Interesting how bad this is when you don't use video models and your own direction.

I Think it’s because when you have enough money to never have to work again and you can move to some place nice, you can isolate yourself and your family from the rest of the world, like most rich people do.

So that’s what, 4-5 years at a society destroying tech co in exchange for lifelong freedom away from the people you have actively made life worse or impossible for.

It seems many people can live with that and in fact will jump at a chance to do it.

i hate it, but plenty of people DO like it and plenty of people talk and write like that. It’s just corpspeak, being used a lot in the valley and beyond. And all upcoming hustlers running startups now feel the need to speak like that, feeding this machine.

In part because of the destruction DOGE has caused any future democratic ruler will have a very tough time. It’s already neigh impossible to undo most of the damage the Trump party has caused, but it’s absolutely impossible to fix what DOGE destroyed, particularly without the evidence.

A new democratic government will be burdened by failing institutions, services, missing funds and whatnot, ensuring victories for the coming dictators.

So I've now lost all my ChatGPT chats? Or did they hide them? I see some of them, but the history is inaccessible??

Edit: I found them back in the 'classic' version of the app. Wildly confusing what is going to happen to the data there, chats, projects, custom GPT's.

This is going to be fun tomorrow when everyone at the company I work at finds out all their chats, projects and GPT’s are ‘gone’ after they ‘update’. And not a word about this switcheroo ‘data loss’ in their comms. Wow.

Worrying for sure. But I doubt the current USA, along with Israel and Russia are going to be bothered about this. Everyone is launching satellites and other gear into orbit for war.

Plenty of people still work at Meta and are applying. Trying to get the good money, Meta on the CV, move on to another overpaying tech co, grind a few years and never have to work again.
