It's an 175 year old institution thats trying to survive. Gotta give them a little slack IMO. The public good their journalists and editors do out weight the annoyance of those emails.

Wow so cool! I had daydreamed about doing something similar with e-ink display on my wall so I could see details about whatever plane I'm hearing.. but this blows that out of the water.

Uhhhh ... No. You must have read that it uses the same frequency 900mhz, but did you actually try using it? When I first got on meshcore here NJ i immediately connected with my closest neighbor repeater 20 miles away which then in turn connected me to the local NJ/PA mesh which spans almost 200 miles wide. I don't recall any cordless telephone ever doing that...

We need to stop normalizing outbound connectivity by default. In fact we should be alerted anytime something tries to go outbound.
