I was thinking today how we will in such a cool age. Yes, AI slop is rampant, but there are so many skilled individuals and teams who post their code repositories publicly. I'm trying to grow and looking for examples of things like excellent architecture, code readability, and quality. I am even more curious about repositories (on the smaller side) written by a few people or less.

I have been noticing lately that because of the plethora of content available on the Internet, I have a hard time choosing what to consume. I enjoy reading a good article, watching a YouTube video, or listening to a podcast. However, every day it seems like there are so many new, high quality pieces of content put out that I just feel overwhelmed. Not to mention every day on a HN there are many new interesting clicks. I want to consume less, but consume smartly. I find myself desiring an artificially limited internet, where I can only listen to a certain number of albums at a time, watch a certain number of videos, or read from limited options of articles.
What strategies do you use to consume content in a sea of endless choice?

I like the framework of impact, thanks for that. I'm not too interested in the "buzzword careers" unless they have a mission I can really align with.

Why was it your favorite?
How far into your career were you when you got that job?
I am 1 year away from my BS in CS and have been pondering what sort of company and role to seek as I approach graduation. My best method for learning about the software industry is talking to others, so I was curious if some of you would be willing to share. This is my second career and I am trying to make the most of it.

Recently I uninstalled most of the applications on my phone, including the browser, email, youtube, and any other form of social media. Now I mostly use my phone for podcasts, texting, phone calls, maps, and as calendar. It's really great!
It's worth a try I think. You can always reinstall those apps if you change your mind.
