You're right and most people are finding out they don't like it at all.

Anecdote: I have a few friends who have never and will never use dating apps, their dating comes from their social circle of various degrees (friends of friends etc..)

I have about 30-40 esp32 / esphome type devices running. Typically to flash or update a device, you would plug it into your usb port.

esphome can also be flashed "OTA" which just means compiling your project locally, then pushing the binary over tcp/ip and giving an instruction to install it.

With https://github.com/esphome/device-builder you can run a network of multiple esphome builders so you can update many devices at the same time "OTA" (TCP/IP).

Most people do not, they have a goal, they want it done. If you want to hold hands with claude all the way, you can absolutely do that too. This is just an example of capabilities, not a forced restriction. "--permission mode auto"

No, it's not. If you see everything through these political lense, you end up constantly in a us vs them mentality. Or a "you're either with us, or against us". I don't think it's healthy.

The problem is they can change their mind at a whim and all of a sudden you are on the other side of what they care about.

Not worth the risk, I'd say don't use them.

To me, the physical property safety is ONE OF the pillars of high trust.

Meaning, you cannot trust people in these places to not take your stuff. And it isn't most of them, its the <1% they tolerate.

Samsung is worse, their OS is horrendous. LG allows local control fairly well and has Home Assistant support.

Samsung is a complete mess, now charging $5/month to use smarthings with no local control. I'll never buy Samsung.

I have 3 LG OLEDs of all different generation and they all still go great. It is by far the best tv you can get vs other manufacturers.

But the replies are missing the point that most people aren't techies and won't go do this. They go to big box store, buy the tv, ask if it has netflix, done.

They won't (and shouldn't need to) install a ATV.

There are plenty of poor immigrants who (shock) still come to the united states and do not commit crime.

Low income correlates, but not cause/effect. Giving cash to poor people in high crime areas doesn't solve crime rates.

100% Agree. And I'll go further saying the highest trust societies I've lived in have been medium-size, rural/suburban. Everyone is in the social/economic class, similar traditions/backgrounds, similar church etc...

#1 is more than annoying, and OP cited a problem with no solutions. In SF who are you going to sue when someone breaks your car window and steal your laptop?

It's crazy to think the amount anti-social / low trust behavior SF/NYC puts up with on a daily basis. It's some weird type of Stockholm syndrome.
