New comment by mmanfrin in "New Apple TV 4K"

When LG does it its illegal, secret, denied, and for use in selling actual data to others. When Apple does it, it's announced along with many promises of privacy and as a feature you buy.

Yes at the end of the day it's a microphone in your home, but each has a very different stated (or unstated, in LG's case) purpose.

??? The redacted files contained damning evidence about him in them.

Honestly it was the first thought I had after seeing a link someone above posted to an Invision Power Board repo. I wanna point claude at it and tell it 'remake this for me in [some modern language]'.

> It'd be corporate suicide for them to be caught violating zero-data-retention commitments

Would it, though? Considering their entire business model is built on the agglomeration of data that isnt theirs.

> If the answer is no, then this seems fair game

Wildly disagree. "Training data" should not imply 'we can look at exactly what you are doing and then do it quicker and get the flowers for it', even if the terms allow for it.

Yes, they also have ramjet turbines which generate electricity from the movement of the plane on a backup circuit.

New comment by mmanfrin in "Asus Bike Booster"

mmanfrin — Sun, 16 Aug 2026 22:56:47 +0000

I have only ever had nightmarish experiences dealing with ASUS products being DOA or broken. They might make good tech that is good when it works, but genuinely half of the things I've bought from asus (>10) have had issues and their support is genuinely the single worst support I have dealt with across any product domain.

Came here to post this one. I intentionally tried to train myself to do this about 10 years ago and the muscle memory came a lot quicker than I expected. It's a very secure knot and the sides hang to the side, not wonky like the ones most of us learned.

Powder, from any company that you find reputable. I like the micronized form. I would avoid any of the gummies, as a huge percentage of them have nowhere near the amount of creatine they claim (I believe the cooking process denatures it or something but this is just conjecture).

Their entire company owes its history to mods.

HL's engine GoldDrc was originally a mod for Quake. Team Fortress Classic was based on a quake mod. Counterstrike was a HL mod they bought out. Portal was a student game they bought. Dota 2 was based on a WC3 map. Left 4 Dead was a mod made by Turtle Rock while working on CS:CZ (so, yet again a mod, although a mod based on their own engine this time and build in house). Underlords was based on a Dota 2 mod.

Deadlock is original, but based on characters and lore from the game they made from the WC3 map.

Deadlock and L4D are arguably the only true original creations.

Valve knows their bread is buttered by outside creation using tools and platforms they can provide and then fold in if it catches their attention.

I feel accepted spelling of the word is 'doxxes'; doxes in my head reads as 'dokeses'.

Also talk about a headline that would mean absolute gibberish just a couple decades ago.
