Makes sense Microsoft is placing it self as a model host and os providing open weight models for much cheaper on their infra already.

No wonder openai and anthropic are terrified

One interesting point I've seen online is that the steam machine is more of a budget Mac than a pc. As valve controls the whole stack including the OS which creates a very streamlined experience that just works.

Maybe its what will make Linux more mainstream!

Another great combination is htmx and asp.net razor pages. You can build and reuse components with partials and keeps things super simple and clean.

I'm currently experimenting with a stack combining assistance, ASP.NET Razor Pages, and htmx, specifically to avoid dealing with the complexities of the modern frontend stack.

AI eliminates a lot of the tedium, grinding tasks, while HTML partials and htmx complement each other perfectly.

Not having to manage frontend framework, SSR states is incredibly liberating. Sprinkle in some vanillla js and redraw specific parts of the page as needed... done

Yes significantly cheaper to run compared to the other models, tried it for an hour yesterday and the results look promising.

Saw in a discussion on Reddit that the team is evaluating glm5.2 so hopefully more to come!

There was a period that was very true when Ninjago were a thing. But in the last decade while they sometimes still come out with new pieces there is still a tonne of reusability and creativity in Lego pieces.

Funny usually a lot of my code is software plumbing, and gardening.

In terms of ai assisted programming. I microanage my ai. Give it specific instructions with single steps. Don't really let it build ehoe files by itself as it usually makes a mess of things, bit it's useful when doing predictable changes and marginally faster than doing it manually.

Having gone through a round of interviews, I completely agree that live coding doesn’t measure anything of substance.

There was one company whose process I really appreciated:

- A take-home test, more of a puzzle-style challenge. - The interviewer does a quick review of your submission. - If they like what they see, you're invited to a follow-up session where you explain your code and make a few simple changes to it.

This approach proves that the work is genuinely yours, shows your thought process, and still gives the opportunity to demonstrate live coding on code you're already familiar with.

I think I saw a video from their CEO showcasing some of the things in their pipeline, they are upgrading the webcams significantly. Best thing about a framework is you can just get the webcam and upgrade it.
