Great take. I think the only way forward for Figma will be the good old "let's cannibalise our own product" playbook. They are actually in prime position (with one of the best brands and distributions out there) to create an AI design product that dominates the market.

This is oh so important. I struggle with fatigue myself for pretty much all my life, and as soon as I did a 7 day detox diet with no coffee, I couldn't believe how my mood and energy went through the roof.
However, the 4 first days without coffee are incredibly tough. But I advice people trying it to understand themselves better.

The article does a great job of explaining how alienating for others is dealing with a non-drinker. I won't talk about it explicitly so others are more comfortable in these scenarios, even though I have no problem at all with being sober and talking about it if prompted.

Interesting answer. I'd say that being an extrovert (which I am by the way) is not a protection against social anxiety. To give an easy example: every male friend I ever had, extrovert or not, had to drink some amount of alcohol to have the courage to flirt in social environments. But business meetings, family meetings, etc, are also nerve-wracking.
Alas, the addictive nature of alcohol obviously plays a role as well.

Exactly what I meant, I was referring to the health benefits of not drinking. Thanks for clarifying.

I had to give up alcohol because of liver problems.
It's amazing for 1. all the health benefits but mostly 2. it changes your perception of life. People are under the influence of alcohol at most social events, but I'd argue it's just for one simple reason: social anxiety. When you have to deal with this anxiety instead of numbing it with alcohol, you go through an emotional and spiritual journey, where you'll uncover who others really are, but mostly who YOU really are.
I highly recommend it.
Protip: How to prevent making people uncomfortable at parties: don't talk about you drinking or not, and directly ask for a mocktail or other alcohol-free drink. If anyone asks if you are not drinking, say "maybe later" and they'll just forget about it.

Just read the first article. Getty Images was sued by a photographer for using 18.000 her public domain images for profit by Getty. The ruling DISMISSED the allegation, which is crazy. It's comical that now it's exactly the same allegation, but with the sides inverted, now it's Getty trying to sue an AI company for using their public domain images. I think we can all guess what's going to happen xD

In the article says: "It only had a simple landing page and a Readme on our GitHub repo". So they started getting pull requests without any product (is what I gather). So they are advocating for the classic MVP experiments before building the actual product (No idea why they renamed it to "MV Positioning", when MV Product is exactly the same thing).

Founded a startup, worked for 1 year 10-14 hours per day, incluing 5-6 hours saturdays and sundays. After 12 months, I started to wake up dizzy in the morning, and having spontaneous nausea during the day. General feeling of wanting to die all the time. We decided to shut down the start-up (unrelated to burnout), and the disappointment made me to develop an "allergy" to working. My brain would stop functioning in front of my computer (very weird). I had to stop for a while, wind down hours, and it took me A WHOLE YEAR to get back to feeling good again and being at full performance again. Had to go back to doing sports, some meditation and deep spiritual introspection. I must add: I believe burnout has more to do with stress and nervousness and being pessimistic about the outcome than the sheer amount of hours. If you are super excited and happy with what you are doing, it's less likely you'll burnout.

I went to Collision Conf last year and there was one hyper useful feature on the name badges (which had a great design): "role". All badges had on top "Startup", "Guest", "Investor", and other categories I can't recall. This was really useful, if you are an investor you can talk to startups and the other way round. Startups also had a "beta" and "alpha" subcategory, that represented startup scale. Obviously, many don't like being so easily spotted, but it helped strike a lot of conversations.
