I think they still make sense for the non technical user. Having an idiomatic control makes setup far easier than on a PC and the UI for a console is designed to be used with a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse. This makes dealing with a television easier. I don't see consoles disappearing ever for those reasons.

We don't know how Claude Code looked before it was vibe coded. It might have always sucked.

Theres a bit of politics that get in the way of "fixing rails". Mainly, many things that others consider anti patterns, DHH and other maintainers are fine with.

If performance is an issue, you can drop down back to JS using %x{} or ``. Good idea to do this for mathematical operations.
