Been building Chat Octopus (like ChatGPT but for media and content: https://chatoctopus.com) since Feb this year. Now it's available on web, ios, and android but I'm finding it hard to market it and find users.

We've been building motion graphics capability (on chatoctopus.com), and "closing the loop" has been one of the hardest challenges. Coding agents have it easy; static analysis, lints, unit tests, etc.

But when visual perception and "taste" get involved, it becomes a lot harder.

Show HN: TS Package to Convert Final Cut, Premiere, Resolve and OpenTimelineIO

A small TypeScript library that imports and exports FCPXML, FCP7/xmeml, and OTIO, plus a CLI.

You can use it for reading, writing, and converting video-editing timelines with frame-accurate timing.

e.g: npx @chatoctopus/timeline convert edit.fcpxml --to otio

Features:

- Format conversion - Import/parse/Export - Give it clip paths (+ optional trims); it probes them with FFprobe and assembles a timeline - Programmatic timeline construction

Caveats: it moves the structure of an edit (cuts, clips, timing, media) but not effects, color, titles, or audio mixing. Transitions only survive into OTIO (they flatten to cuts in FCPXML/xmeml), and on the Final Cut side, it reads Resolve-style asset-clip timelines rather than FCP's compound/multicam/title containers.

Contributions: Looking for some real-world test files of FCP, Premiere, and Resolve to find and fix any remaining bugs.

Wow! congrats on the launch guys. client-side rendering is incredible, really. I saw your product somewhere and have it as an open tab in my chrome for ~2 weeks :D

As the domain (hopefully) indicates, A REST API for the FFmpeg service. So far, it's been a plain API, but now it's adding MCPs and AI endpoints, so you don't have to remember ffmpeg commands.

I agree, technically, "sub agent" is also another tool. But I think it's important to differentiate tools with deterministic input/output from those with reasoning ability. A simple 'Tool' will take the input and try to execute, but the 'subagent' might reason that the action is unnecessary and that the required output already exists in the shared context. Or it can ask a clarifying question from the main agent before using its tools.
