Short version: they can’t. Just like with a lot of “CIA-style” espionage claims, the “evidence” is usually an IP that resolves to somewhere in China. That’s it. No magic, and not exactly convincing.

Any concrete examples?
I’ve always wondered how a company that fully controls its tech and can leave a country at anytime can be “forced” to transfer its core tech. From what I’ve seen, what gets transferred is usually older, commoditized or even out dated tech because it’s profitable to license.
Yes, copying happens. But I would call it as a common pattern in developing markets: entrepreneurs imitate to get a foothold, then iterate. It’s messy, but it’s also how a lot of industries bootstrap.

I haven’t seen much detailed analysis on this demographic topic.
The question is whether technology bends the curve. If renewables, robotics, and AI mature and are deeply integrated before that demographic crunch fully bites, the labor shortfall matters a lot less. Energy abundance plus automation could decouple growth from headcount. In that scenario, demographics aren’t destiny, and China could be among the first to operate on near-zero marginal energy and labor costs at scale.

I'd like to offer a couple of additional perspectives on the discussion around China's approach to intellectual property.
Firstly, it's important to recognize that challenges with IP protection in China are not exclusively an issue for foreign entities; they represent a broader systemic problem that impacts domestic companies as well.
Secondly, a crucial, though perhaps less visible, factor is the state of the legal infrastructure. There's an argument to be made that China's legal system hasn't yet reached a stage of efficiency or possess sufficient specialized resources to comprehensively manage the sheer volume and complexity of IP disputes for all parties. From this viewpoint, the situation might be framed less as 'China deliberately permits IP infringement' and more as 'China is still in the process of developing a robust and universally effective system to tackle IP protection challenges.'
Finally, China's historically export-oriented economic model naturally increases the touchpoints and potential for IP conflicts between domestic and international businesses, making such disputes more visible on the global stage. Compounding this, many first-generation Chinese entrepreneurs, often products of a different era with less emphasis on formal IP education, may not have initially possessed a strong awareness or understanding of intellectual property rights as they are conceived internationally. This isn't to excuse infringement, but to highlight a factor that likely contributed to the prevalence of such issues.

These "Winner/Loser" headlines are great for click-through rates, less so for drawing any conclusions beyond the incredibly superficial. The real story is always at the micro level. Anyone declaring a macro entity a perpetual winner or loser probably hasn't zoomed in enough, or perhaps, zoomed out too much to see anything useful.

The United States maintains the world's most powerful corporations and attracts exceptional talent, yet appears to be hastening toward what some consider an inevitable conflict—one that exists largely in political rhetoric rather than reality. Setting an ambitious four-year timeline to rebuild manufacturing capabilities seems impractical. More concerning is how this approach risks dismantling the global governance system that took generations to establish, while alienating allies who could be valuable partners rather than burdens. The potential costs of such a strategy are immense, explaining why many observers question whether there's a coherent strategy behind these actions.

The 80-hour workweek isn’t some grand anomaly; it’s simply the natural outcome of the fierce competition in China’s market. If you want a good job, you have to give it your all—because if you don’t, there will always be someone smarter, faster, and more determined waiting to take your place. It’s not personal; it’s just how the system works.
Yes, the government has made efforts to regulate this, but the root issue remains: if an economy can’t provide enough well-paid jobs, no amount of intervention will fundamentally change the situation. The pressure will persist—it’s a structural reality, not a moral failing.
As for the term "slave," it’s a dramatic and, frankly, amusing choice of words. It perfectly captures a certain U.S. perspective on China, one that’s often shaped by narrow assumptions and ideological filters. The lens of "communism" becomes a convenient, if overly simplistic, way to frame a complex society. It’s not wrong to critique, but sometimes the framing says more about the critic than the subject itself.

You better read news from media carefully, especially U.S. news on China:
1. "China's defense budget stays under 1.5% of GDP for years".True.
2. "China will increase its defense budget 7.2% this year".True.

One thing that confuses me is how short-term Americans tend to think about certain issues. For example, how can you be so certain that a country like China cannot transition into a more democratized society? Are you basing that assumption solely on the developments of the past 20 years? Is that the extent of your perspective? Think about how much democracy existed when the United States transitioned from an agricultural society to an industrial powerhouse. How long did it take Western countries to evolve into democratic societies? And let’s not forget that democratic systems themselves can evolve over time.

Your words made me picture a typical American tech worker:
1.Bashes China with zero facts or sources, parroting English journalists who can’t read Chinese or grasp its nuances.
2.Lacks historical knowledge and critical thinking, clinging to a Hollywood mindset—quick to label, slow to question.
3.Worships the CIA and FBI, swallowing their propaganda while ignoring the obvious: they’re the dark forces wrecking the world 24/7.

In a multipolar world, historical ignorance leads to geopolitical disadvantage. One should be well-versed in history before offering opinions on these matters. While American power once allowed it to shape global order unilaterally, a truly multipolar reality requires deep historical understanding to avoid diplomatic failures.

Let's be real, the top talent in China flocks to the tech world – internet, manufacturing, the whole shebang. Entertainment? Not so much. That industry's heavily regulated, you know? Look at what they've achieved: drones, electric vehicles, solar power, robotics... You could even say China basically "outsourced" entertainment to the West and East Asia.
