I feel the subscription fatigue as well, but I think the common US-based customer doesn't mind and many people just leave some $10 per month subscriptions running, even without using the product because they just don't care. People spend $7 on coffees at Starbucks and yet it feels like you have to fight for getting people to subscribe monthly to some product. At least that's what I experience with the B2C thing I am building. But subscription fatigue is really different in different cultures. I am from Germany and I have the perception that germans are much harder to sell to digitally and tend to be more stingy when spending money on apps especially for a monthly subscription.
That being said I am also an advocate of pricing fairly and providing value first. I disapprove of the common paywall pattern where you install an app, have a 10 step questioner sales funnel ending in asking you for a monthly or discounted yearly subscription without you having seen ANY value which you installed the app for in the first place.
I think builders, especially in the B2C sector should start to copy what the gaming industry is already doing successfully for a long time: make it free but allow for in app purchases that make the experience, better, custom to your liking or "pay to win".
Thankfully through the shift to many AI startups pricing seems to shift away from SaaS to pay on demand based on usage and that's the fairest it can get.
The startup pays only for the tokens you use and you do as well, but with a GOOD margin on top ofc.

As far as I remember OpenAI does it too even when using the API. Their reason is fraud and harmful behaviour detection. But let's be honest, does it really matter? Building a successful product does depend on so much more than the technical implementation and brainstorming you do with Fable, Mythos or any model.

Share your POV about the flow state. I lost that too, but found myself a few days ago sitting in front of Claude prompting until 5am in the morning. The flow is different, less satisfactory for sure than writing code yourself.
Main reason I am sticking to using AI is convenience, speed and the perception that the job market expects you to.
