i don't know. i'm just talking about the simple act of porting an existing chrome js file to work in safari.

it takes 2 minutes to port to firefox and you dont need to dowlonad gigs of proprietary junk on your machine and create an account.

the problem with web is and always has been that there is a million ways to do the same thing. each one has it's own trade off, and you might not discover that until you're far too deep into the muck.

this way of thinking that contributes to such a toxic job market.

there's too many people applying for too few jobs. that's it.

this bullcrap about inflation, baking bread, interest rates, team building are all symptoms of entitlement.

if you only had 2 applicants you wouldn't be thinking that way.

i realised recently that covid has made me un-hireable.

this type of thinking, i can't do it anymore. i've tasted freedom and i saw how short life is to waste in a office.

all just sounds like grade A bullshit to me. off-shoring is nothing new. still has same issues it always did.

although much dev work has become very commodified and saturated so the demographic reality is that it's very hard to find a job, and most jobs dont pay well and hiring has become extremely arrogant and choosy.

it's contextual, words can mean different things in different context.

in my work technical skills just means that you are a manager who progressed through engineering. you understand our problems and speak in the same terms.

non-technical is just someone from a different contextual background. although in their own context of dealing with humans ("soft skills") is also a "technical" skill in that it require specific skills which we engineers may not have.

well they lost the right to live, work and freely travel through the EU.

and what did they gain in return for that. a weak economy.

most of the js ecosystem is made of stream of consciousness kludge that is constantly being "refactored" and "deprecated"

effing tiresome as hell dealing with that sh-t...and this mentality seems to have seeped entirely into nu-dev as i see it also in other ecos now

subversive and evergreen. genuinely useful and hard to kill.

web dev does feel more like cheap labor work tbh. aside from a few exceptions. mostly tedious grunt work.
