Agree on google, Kagi though is usually better than ai responses. I’m actually a bit annoyed at the new Siri AI as it often does an AI response when I just want a Kagi search.

That is around $50k, no way would I ever spend that much on a car.

We already barely drive and the car is largely just for groceries and other shopping. We can almost get away without having a car but it was be a bit frustrating and neither of us enjoy biking.

BYD also has very reasonably sized cars like the Dolphin.

Cars have become absurd. We have an older car, and I occasionally look at what we could replace it with, and everything is huge and expensive. Literally, the only car I have been interested in is from BYD and will never be available in my country.

There is no reason to assume it is “more practical” or that it will increase utility for the student. Especially at the graduate level, the deeper you are able to explore a subject and the more you can connect that subject to a broader range of topics the more utility you get from the degree. Less time to finish a degree means you are less able to do that. I would think this will decrease the likelihood of new ideas being developed which will quickly become a problem for society in general. Also no one gets a PhD because it is practical, you get it because you want to explore a topic and push the boundaries of human knowledge.

My states system is very transparent and has many systems for detecting fraud but people on the right claim otherwise and they are either ignorant of how it worked or just lying.

Without the Lisa we wouldn’t have the Mac. The Vision Pro is a first gen of a new product category for Apple and I fully expect whatever comes from it will be very different than what we have today.

The Apple Lisa was introduced at around $10k (~$32k in today’s dollars). I do agree it is expensive but not historically out of line for a version one of a new product category for the company.

I have always been amazed at how outlook just seems to always get worse. When I first used it decades ago I found it awful but it had a logic to it, now it is worse and makes no sense in the current world of options.

I would imagine there are actually more 68k devices out there than 486 and, I am told, the 68k architecture is much more enjoyable to work with.

I live in the pacific NW and feel that we do largely have those but people don't know about them or don't want to use them. For example, the easiest way for me to get to Portland/Seattle/Vancouver is by far the train. In none of those cities would I recommend driving as public transit is better in almost all cases. I live in a medium sized city and even here we only drive about once a week. So it is totally possible but it takes some additional planning and tradeoffs that many people don't want to do.
