Could it be that it defrosts only by raising the temperature for a few hours just a bit to get the same effect and they food stays there?

Inflation in Switzerland is weird. It's not in groceries, but it's in coffee and restaurants, it's not in electronics, but it's in health insurance and rent. And there, it's very high - health insurance (mandatory) grows +5% per year, rent is complicated, but could be 10-20% per year or 0, depends on your luck.

I really like the yamaha MIDI sound, shame they weren't that popular. Sounds much richer and more expressive than Roland. Roland might be more technically correct, not sure.

That github repository has a sad closing story:

"development and maintaining of this emulator has stopped; this project also caused me pretty severe burnout [...] pressure to relicense the project and usage info/code from my code against my will/without permission or outright license violations"

I think this is wrong - it will likely be PCIe gen 5. Apple doesn't say PCIe gen 6 anywhere and this doubling would be from the previous Mac Studio, which probably had PCIe gen 4. So this would match what happened on macbooks recently - upgrade to PCIe gen 5.

I think someone made incorrect conclusions and everyone just copied them.

Double the price of the base m4 mac mini in February :(

(it was late in it's lifecycle and there were frequent sales)

Those were great and 1070 was a great deal. Upgraded to a 3080 from 1070 last year, they are quite reasonably priced now.

Not sure what you mean. Had a mk 4 or what the last one was - excellent. Now on core one (or what the name is for the enclosed one), also great.

Like all the big companies: no social responsibility, only make more money. Not to employees, not to countries they operate in, not to users. Pure greed.

Very enjoyable article. Never had a Be box, but used beos a bit around 2000 - when it was free to download. It felt great, shame there were no apps. Maybe if vibe coding was available then, it would have done much better. Loved the hardware part of the story - I just got a mac studio on sale and after many years of laptops, remembered how much fun it is to have things on a desk, permanently connected. I was cleaning up my vintage hardware, selling some old MBs after all full PCs were gone - had two dual processor pentium pro and pentium II workstations. Connected a USB to SATA/IDE/floppy connector, went through all old HDDs before recycling them - was such a joy to have desk space, not just my portable do-it-all.

Anyway, computers should be fun and this story definitely brings that across. Thank you!
