I made TubeSummary, a browser extension that adds a summary and Q&A button to YouTube videos. It uses your favorite OpenAI-compatible API (OpenAI, Groq, Together, etc) so you can get quick takeaways or ask the AI about the video — right below the player.

Built it because I got tired of scrubbing through endless videos just to figure out what mattered.

It's open source, I have tested on latest Chrome and Firefox.

A quick heads up for Chrome users: since I don't have a paid Google developer account, the extension isn't on the Chrome Web Store, so you'll need to install it manually. Sorry for the extra hassle! There's a step-by-step guide in the repo if you need it.

In the old days, when you were waiting for a video to load, pressing the down arrow key would bring up a simple snake game that you could play while watching the video.

I made this extension to bring that feature back. Press S to start the game, then ASDW to play. You can also press "Q" to change the colour (to keep it visible on different backgrounds), or "E" to see your current and maximum score.

It's available in the Firefox addons store, for Chrome you will have to install it manually.

Only nvidia cards are compatible or AMD ones also could work?

Maybe could be more useful if the default copy method were hex or if it saves last selected setting on localStorage.

Also keep working a bit on Cardo: https://cardo-podcast.github.io/, an open source podcast player, but now I'm focused on earn some money or get a job (or both).

All browsers I have been used had an editable url field, this should be easy. On desktop by double-clicking the word youtube it should select it an you can just write there.

I have been tought so much about the login wall, I look to what other solo developers are doing and they use to set a paywal, I left a free trial, but I need some compromise because I have no resources to let people abuse. I now it difficult conversions, but is the best I can do right now. Also even without trial it's a cheap service.

Since the HN launch I added phone support and a "Advanced" LLM plan with auto summarization of videos. I'm working to add a quiz mode tho this plan trying to offer a more complete solution.

On mobile isn't possible to make new selections yet, but you can still open a video pasting the url on the box in the home page, that should work with "m." url also.
