I'm surprised you said he couldn't afford Switzerland, I thought they weren't supposed to make money off help with dying? Are they secretly making money then, or is there paperwork that's expensive to file?

If you want to have a browser with a different engine you need a whole different developer account org, you need to maintain two different code bases and you need to very specifically set everything up to pass all of Apple's tests, which are incredibly onerous in time and work, so it doesn't make sense for Mozilla to do so for such a small market share (hell Google doesn't either, and they're a lot bigger than them)

It's actually the importer's info from the Chinese manufacturer, not the OP, since it's the switch packaging (it'd be inside the original package they'd have received from Aliexpress)

I remember seeing stories about Adobe not being able to, or not wanting to, write a good energy efficient flash renderer for the iPhone, thus being another reason not to support it for Jobs (Adobe being of the mind that "Flash is so big, they'll have to support it" and Jobs proving otherwise)

That's true, it sucks only the Go got unlocked, I hope they let the older Quests do so too in the future, especially since I think the Q2 is going to be deprecated soon-ish too, that'd certainly be nice

Interesting, does that mean we might get root support on the old unsupported Quest devices too? The Q1 is already discontinued and no more updates yet still locked down, and they did something similar for the Ofulus go, providing a rooted boot image for it

Next would be recovery tools too, so they're not paperweights

Has Meta ever provided Qualcomm EDL files for recovery?

I thought I'd ask here, considering people here might be more knowledgeable about it. Quest VR headsets for example are notoriously lacking in recovery options. They also have an EDL mode, specifically 9008, baked in the Qualcomm SoC, but as you need a specific "Firehose" file to set it up, and Meta never provided it, many people who end up with botched updates or issues with their headsets, and can only boot in this mode seem SoL.

Would anybody here have info on what to do about it? A lot of these are out of warranty, or even completely unsupported like the Quest 1, so Meta themselves wouldn't even service them anymore. Thanks!
