Yeah, I could see AI being used for intake. That's a good point. And then the doctor can get some baseline info that they can use when they talk to the patient. Maybe even some really beautiful data, showing visually to the doctors all the different symptoms they reported.

Ooof. As a Canadian, I'm excited for AI opening up time for doctors (and hopefully lighting a load on the healthcare system), but this is scary. We're not there yet. Perhaps AI training for doctors is in the future?
They already have online doctor visits on a healthcare-owned iPad in some condo complexes. It cuts around redtape of having to schedule an appointment with your GP.
So, I think we're thinking in the right direction of innovating, but of course, this will take time. I feel like AI got launched too early sometimes.

100%! It's also super-relevant for bipolar disorder, where the amount of sleep you get can be an indicator of moving into a depressive/maniac phase. I'm also working on showing the data more beautifully, so it all pans out and shows a full picture.

My wife wanted a mood tracking app to track her habits and bipolar disorder. It's super useful for noticing new swings and trends. Unfortunately, every app was either too clunky or paywalled. In the end, she started using Google Sheets to track it.
I built Polar Balance to be clean, cute, and fun. It's supposed to be quick for the user. Answer 5 daily questions, and you're done. It does the statistics for you. Plus, the notifications are all penguin-themed. Each user gets a super cool penguin fact and a reminder to log their day. It's supposed to feel fun, not clinical.
This is my first solo-shipped iOS app. A few things I kept in mind:
- Logging a mood is the first thing you can do, not onboarding
- Data stays on your device unless you decide to link it to a gmail or iCloud account
- iPhone now, Apple Watch companion coming in version 2.0
I'd love to hear feedback from those who would benefit from a mood-tracking app. Happy to get into the build, privacy choices, or anything else!
