One thing that hasn't changed over the past 2 decades is the structure or definition of product management. It sometimes is borderline crazy to see the world following a defunct model of product management which no longer applies in the current context when AI is changing the way businesses work. Keeping that in mind I thought through the problem and came up with an entirely different model for product management which might make more sense if we were to see the modern organisations or the products they are building in this AI enabled world.
Read my blog to know more - https://medium.com/@prometheus666/redefining-modern-product-...

In today's world we hear so many conversations around us which prompt us to be conversationalists ourselves. There isn't anything wrong with it as long as we are effectively listening as well. Now that's an area where the entire human society would have to work on incessantly because we actually falter there. Listening is just not a part of our daily lives because we are so much enamoured by the art and science of conversation that we tend to not only undermine but completely ignore listening or more appropriately effective listening. To my surprise I don't see a lot of literature that talks about listening as an essential skill. So I decided to share my experiences on listening. Read my blog to know more

What exactly is learning? How does effective learning take place? How can learning help an individual to produce a viable outcome? There are loads of questions around learning and yet not one Edtech company tends to take learning seriously. Matter of fact the research done on learning is close to zero. So it would not be unfair to say that skills are being taught without a whiff of what learning is all about. That shockingly translates to Edtech being a driverless car going nowhere with learners strapped onto their seats. But how is this possible? Why would no one take learning seriously?
While we keep talking about operational excellence, it's almost hard to find a company that excels in it and that too without the support of technology. I witnessed such a company while I was doing my Stanford University Graduate School of Business Ignite program. It's a Japanese company that revolutionised operations management forever. What's funny is that nobody has ever heard of it. No it's not Toyota Motor Corporation as many would imagine. To know more do read my blog above

Skill development is a sure shot way to transform a nation. Most developed countries have put crazy amount of effort to ensure skill development is done effectively. Developing nations like India are emulating the same model and ensuring skill development could solve the unemployability problem which could subsequently solve the unemployment crisis in the nation. But is it that simple or these are symptoms of a larger anomaly at play here. I call it the skill dimensional conundrum. Read the following blog to know more

A large part of our life is comprised of everyday failures that we encounter. As per Mark Manson, one has to make peace with everyday failure and devise ways to decimate it. What we inadvertently miss out is that it all has to do with a grand cosmic design where entropy rules. In order to understand what entropy is, I wrote a fictional story to demonstrate how entropy could be useful in our everyday lives. What we consider a foe is actually a friend.
As entrepreneurs and product managers tend to build their starups hinging on a product they tend to create their strategies on their competitors without having an iota of idea that their actual competition is with entropy that tends to increase with time and thus makes the job far more difficult for them. Most companies like Nike or Amazon that went past a certain threshold to become category leaders were competing to outshine themselves and that made them what they are today. In this fictional story I narrate the life of a startup product entrepreneur who is struggling hard to keep his product startup afloat and how a singular divine incident in his life changes his perspective forever.
A major reason why a lot of bootstrapped startups in India fail is because they find it unable to optimise their costs. As a direct result of that they run short of money in the course of building and launching their products or services. When I started a slew of startups I too faced the same issue because I was living in Bangalore where the cost of living is much higher than small cities. I struggled initially but then I learnt how to lead a frugal life in order to sustain your startup.
If you want to know more about how to optimize your costs while running your product startups, my blog on financial management is just the right resource for you. It will help you understand the entire cost structure and teach you ways to optimise it.

We live in an unfair world where a few folks control the majority of wealth while the majority toil as hard as possible for a basic subsistence. The funny part is most don't ever realise they are nothing less than foot soldiers that the proponents of capitalism are using to benefit a few folks at the top of the food chain. The economic equality that we tend to see across the globe is actually deliberately created because greed is difficult to deal with for a few folks at the top. What's even more surprising is that it's been clouded and shielded from most of the folks who don't see anything beyond their mundane lives. Read my blog to know more

I have been mentoring product management aspirants for close to 5 years now. I meet all types of folks who wish to make a career in products. They all have different types of questions while they are preparing for their interviews but as soon as they get an offer, not even one thinks through the offer to see if it makes sense or not. They only do post many months when expectations aren't equivalent to reality and that causes some major heartburn. So it's imperative to take into account a few things before taking up an offer and that is exactly what my new blog talks about. What are the things to consider while taking up a new job as a product professional in a new company?
https://medium.com/@prometheus666/product-management-career-...

India is a land of followers. I would term it the colonial hangover which might subside and then before another century or half soaking in proverbial chaos. However having said that it isn't a bad idea to follow a great leader who inspires and instills confidence in the diaspora. When it comes to product management like any other field, there is a certain knack to follow product leaders who have had illustrious careers in building ground breaking products. But before one takes that leap, one has to face the old start problem. Believe me it has nothing to do with Andrew Chen's Cold Start Problem.
When we talk about the market, we have often heard about the transactional nature of exchanges between buyers and sellers. The sellers could be companies or individuals and the buyers could again be companies or individuals. In the last 300 years of micro economics we have often perceived the nature of exchanges between buyers and sellers to be transactional but as it turns out it's an investment that each party is making till entropy rips either apart. In product management too, we tend to treat these exchanges as one dimensional transactions but the day we start viewing them as an investment ,each is making in each other to succeed, is the day the game will shift from competing with the competition to ways to make perfect investment in generating more per capita outcome for a customer through products or services. The Job Theory has already established what the value of a product really means. The investment theory would go a step further to explain how this investment on both ends will eliminate the system of competition and give rise to value providers or operators who can make better investment in their customers and in turn will have their customers make better investment in themselves.

Time and again we have heard this narrative that a majority of Indian graduates are not employable. We've heard hiring mangers dismay when they found that the interviewees did not know how to code or solve a problem by writing code. Haven't we seen young engineers migrating to managerial roles to get rid of coding? What was pending all these years is a discussion around why that has been the case? Why is it that our students are unemployable even after 20 years of education? Why don't they have the skills or the proficiency the industry requires?
