Srsly, all those neck beards who over simplify the problem with a flippant "don't use zoom", as if everyone has the luxury to skip every job interview and employer meeting that absolutely requires Zoom. I wish I could live in their world where every problem is solved by simply avoiding that problem.

Unless you have insider knowledge, this seems incredibly unlikely. Do you really think most GMail users even understand what this functionality is, much less use it? Google is many things, but they're not suicidal. I'm sure they did the math of the ongoing cost of supporting this functionality, versus whatever revenue people who care about it (and are still paying nothing) might bring in and realized its a cost savings for them. Losing 0.3% of all users is likely in their interests.

No, you need a dutch bank account to pay plus a dutch address to receive the card. That's not going to work for 99% of visitors.

Curious what industry you work in where thin clients are still a thing. Most people are doing far more than ssh to some remote server.

Every time I'm forced to use MacOS again, its worse than the last time. Everything feels like a bolted on afterthought in an OS that forces Apple's opinions on everything. My productivtiy is ruined trying to do things the Apple way, instead of the way that works best for me.

No thanks, I'll stick with Linux, where I can tinker to have the OS work the way that is best for me, instead of what Apple thinks is best for me.

If solving leetcode is the only way to differentiate candidates, then its meaningless and is not accomplishing anything.

Only those who can't or won't invest time creating a meaningful interview process fall back to leetcode.

"close to top end restaurant" is purely subjective, and meaningless. Sorry, but Chicago doesn't have the diversity, quality or quantity of restuarants that NYC has. Not even remotely close. Chicago has certainly come a long way from the days of meat & potatoes, but its no where in the same league as NYC. And the fact that its easy to get reservations only further underscores how non-competitive Chicago is in that regard.

Been using it for many years. Its a great self-hosted solution. The android app also works well.

But the lead developer is the worst stereotype for the egotistical god-complex. You have to worship the ground he walks on or he'll publicly attack & mock you. If you don't anticipate all of his questions in advance, he'll attack you with all sorts of infantile insults. He clearly feels that he is doing everyone the world's biggest favor by providing his software to the masses.

I don't think you fully grasp what operating an ISP is truly like outside of most developed, Western countries. Its absolutely nothing like what you're describing (and blatantly assuming).

For example, Brazil literally has thousands of tiny ISPs, each with, at most, a few hundred customers. They operate on the narrowest of margins, squeaking out close to no profits. They cut corners everywhere. They definitely do not have spare capacity, and over sell by insane percentages.

Another example, Mongolia, where there's basically just one ISP, the government owned Unitel. They have zero incentive to do anything extravagant, or even provide good service. Its a monopoly.

The cost of building out full capacity is very much still a limiting factor in many parts of the world.
