This is effectively just a tariff. An extremely large and disproportionate fine on a foreign company so that the local company has a better chance to compete.

US Science needed this. Racism, sexism, plagiarism, and fraud were rampant in the academic community. It's going to take a long time to fully fix the problem, but we are on the right path currently.

Hormuz being closed hurts Iran way more than it does the US. It's shocking that they're persisting on this strategy. That's the problem with authoritarians though: they'd rather rule over rubble than be an average citizen in a prosperous society.

Biden got literally 0% of the vote despite 538 predicting him to win.

They chose to pretend Biden's mental decline wasn't happening because that was the Democrat party line at the time. How can you trust predictions from someone who is willing to manipulate his results to prop up his political party?

Good is relative. If somebody struggles with getting their hand-written code to compile, the LLM coding agents will look like geniuses to them.

This is a website where anybody can trivially create multiple accounts in minutes. It has minimal protections against abuse. The strength of the community relies entirely on its obscurity and it's no longer obscure.

It died as a home for intellectuals the moment it became big enough to be a viable platform for political propaganda (many years ago).
