Little extra "fun" anecdote: my building has two banks of eight elevators, each servicing 20 or so floors, and has six destination dispatch kiosks: one at each end and the middle of each bank. The kiosks originally had nice metal buttons for each floor and you could easily tap yours as you walked by.

Sometime during Covid, the metal buttons were replaced with glass touch screens – which are totally unreadable on sunny days, because in our stunning glass-ceilinged atrium mezzanine they sit directly in sunbeams[0]. So now you have to walk up to the kiosk, shade it with your body, and squint at the screen to make out where to touch it.

My 55" LG Wallpaper signage display is pretty much perfect – it just has HDMI in from an Apple TV and never bothers me. But, it takes ~10 seconds to turn on after a signal is detected, since it was never meant to be turned off!

Citing Aphyr's analysis of a pre-release version of Redis-Raft as though it applied to a shipped product is so disingenuous as to invalidate this whole post. The very next sentence after the one he quoted is

and of the 21 errors he found, 20 were already fixed before he published his review.

You don't need an ORM for any of that, just a query builder. In Python e.g. you can use SQLAlchemy Core instead of the SQLAlchemy ORM.

Yeah, same – mine gives Claude a proxy to the host's Docker socket that disallows mounting anything outside the dev dirs or starting a --privileged container, so it can run tests.

Hi, using the app now and it's been great fun. (Now if my wife would actually take an exit so we could eat!)

However, we're on 290 E and it's showing me the exits that are behind us – as if it thinks we're westbound. Is there any way to convince it we're not?

And for my iPod touch! I was prepared to keep using it around the house – it's so much lighter than a phone – but I was worried about leaving it logged into iCloud Keychain if it wasn't going to get this fix.
