I figured my direct family could use an extra Macbook, so I decided to "peel" my M1 Pro away as a gift to my mom. It stays close, I can use her unused space as backup, provide ad-hoc Tailscale to her (way smoother than with her crufty Windows machine), and I get a nice upgrade to my current workflows.

Having said that, I did plan on sticking it out 7 years. Ended up bailing on an M5 Pro!

We've gotten through that threat twice now in Brazil. Lula has just cast out the Meta-assisted side as of yesterday's poll results [1]!

I can vouch for having seen this firsthand on Meta AI assistants, the same behavior showing up for many close friends as well as colleagues.

This used to be an under the hood and frowned upon type of maneuver, but now it is much more rampant and far reaching thanks to AI

If anything, many in Brazil feel a social media decline or stagnation. Orkut was poised to restart here and was met with great anticipation. Good market to new novel social media ideas.

Somehow something like Baidu web doesn’t seem too bad now. Brazil could use some sovereign tech.

Both sides are pulling record levels of engagement. It's a colosseum out there. But yes, one of the sides is more automated as usual. Most of the left engagement is human driven.

People are not notifying this nearly enough, but Meta is still going up and at it in Brazil [1] during one of the most polarized elections I've ever seen during my time.

Things got so ridiculous that Meta's AI WhatsApp companion would let you generate one candidate's posters, but flat-out deny you the same prompt for the opposition. Of course the bias skewed heavily towards benefiting the alt-right, pro-MAGA party.

Nitrome kicked ass! It had such a unified vision for the universe of its games. You could tell they were all conceived with great care and they felt connected to each other. It's nice to see they're looking the same and still alive and kicking [1].

This is fairly off-topic but I thought you were familiar alright! I used JUCE back in college for a POC synthesizer and I remember it being the absolute best for plugin development. Incredibly enough it was my first point of contact with C++ and it was a joy to develop with.

I have not revisited VSTs post LLMs or even stayed close to music since I lost my collection and rock climbing has consumed most of my last decade, but kudos to putting such unique tooling out there when the rest of the ecosystem looked so byzantine. It's wild how people built so many incredible virtual instruments back in the day.

Going through those memories I'm now curious how the scene is like today where wild idea projects are more within reach.

Why Postman? There are nicer, git friendlier options for something being shown as a git repo primarily.
