I guess it's rathet hard to satisfy GrapheneOS requirements in 200 bucks budget. Things like at least 5 years of updates.

Friend, avoid those leaky abstractions with milions of pages of docs for all cost!

Just use Kotlin+Ktor/http4k+Exposed+Postgres or alternatively more old school Java+Javalin/http4j+JOOQ+Postgres.

Benefit from serverless or services like GCP cloudrun

I think you refer to the long unemployment.

Crisis time needs to be shortened then. Banks should raise rates firmly, reaching levels higher than inflation. Big companies should not be artificially saved from collapsing, and regulations simplified. The unemployment period will be then short.

But shortly after, when all inefficient companies bankrupt, they'll wake up in the booming economy, finding places in perspective businesses.

Crisis is good for the economy in the long term. I only worry that governments won't allow young trees to grow after the forest's fire.

I wonder why in the middle of 2022 people still put pre-2011 and pre-JDK7 snippets. And even try-with-resources example is not all what JDK7 provides, there are better, high-level utilities added which haven't got a proper attention.

Namely, in JDK7 and newer, you can just write: Files.readAllBytes(Path.get("story.txt"))

Traditional Catholic here. I go to the "Mass of all time" every Sunday. I pray and read the daily texts of the mass. From time to time, I recite the Holy Rosary (which I find a wonderful contemplation method). I examine my conscience and confess my sins regularly. I also like to listen to recordings about the Saints of the Catholic Church - unbelievable people.

I appreciate a lot the traditional Catholic doctrine. It's wonderful to see its resurrection and many young priests motivated to preach it in the opposition to the old protestantized Church leaders.

I have been considering myself just as deist until I've learned how amazing is a Catholic philosophy. Did you know, for example, that Saint Thomas Aquinas found a way to determine if the creation have soul (like humans) or not (like animals)? Including extraterrestrial life!

It's strange that oxygen cannot be transported at night. In Europe all the critical and big volume transports goes often at night (wind turbines parts, ship components etc.)

1. Providing Authoritative Information on Voting During the Pandemic

We hear it all the time (especially in Europe):

- irresponsible people would not secure their retirement so the state needs to force them to do it,

- irresponsible people would not fasten the seatbelt so law must force them to do so,

- irresponsible people would not vaccinate their children etc.

But when elections are coming, all these irresponsible people will wisely choose the best president, after detailed investigation of the economical treaties. Pure absurd.

I like the idea of Fredrich Hayek - everyone votes only once in the whole life at age between 40 and 45 years. (Assuming the cadence is 5 years). Only interested ones.

Instead of €50. The government could make €70 tax relief. Then there would be no need to transfer (€50 x millions of bike owners) through the government's hands and to waste peoples effort on serving the whole operation.

The only reason why it is not like that is because politicians like to have our money which gives them power and makes the state bigger and bigger.

Yeah, you need to split crude oil into simpler fuels and gases to burn it efficiently, so it looks even worse for crude oil.
