I believe him that he didn't know it was a Nazi tattoo. There's no other evidence that he holds Nazi views and he has covered it up.

Not advocating for AI code slop--but if AI coded software works correctly, maybe it doesn't matter? Except sometimes when a specialist will have to get involved. Not a perfect analogy, but most people don't write assembly these days--they have a compiler do that. Assembly still has a place, but it's a specialist task.

honestly, who gives a shit?

the US spends AT LEAST $1T/year on military—and a lot of that is used to murder a lot of innocent people just minding their own business. Cut the military budget in half to start and then complain about reckless spending.

I’ll also add: abruptly killing programs costs more than it saves. The DOGE fiasco at USAID for example—the unruly unwinding of their finances incurred huge financial penalties. (I listened to an interview with a USAID whistleblower. It may have been interest payments?)

These ignorant and greedy billionaires destroying the people’s government based on vibes… a sick joke.

May I propose an alternative for our politicians? Rather that saying “you better take your medicine like a grown up and be responsible and vote for our side” try being _actually compelling_ for a change.

That’s it. Just offer the people what they want and stop catering to the ownership class.

I know grants are important. You know grants are important. When I say “academic” I mean not immediately relevant to most ordinary people who are trying to lay their mortgage etc. That’s a different group that the MAGA cult people who believe grants are a waste of public funds.

non voters were the largest bloc and its understandable since lawmakers are largely unresponsive to their material needs. (bigger military budget every year, no universal healthcare plan, etc)

i also think the importance of grants is a bit academic, so not a day to day concern.
