Except you don't. Use hx-vals, hx-include, or even hx-headers to pull in additional data into the request that's outside of the immediate form/component.

The "Learning" point drives home a concern my brother-in-law and I were talking about recently. As LLMs become more entrenched as a tool, they may inevitably become the crutch that actually holds back innovation. Individuals and teams may be hesitant to explore or adopt bleeding edge technologies specifically because LLMs don't know about them or don't know enough about them yet.

Definitely been looking for the same. I thought I would have a little time before needing to worry about it. However, our newborn has additional medical needs, so my SO and I are needing more coordinated back and forth with medical teams. Also means that our newborn needs a mailbox of their own in order to register for medical secure portals, which we need to access on their behalf.

.NET 8 is suppose to greatly improve AOT. Depending on your use case, you might be able to get around bundling the runtime entirely.

As one of the other replies mentioned, the fetch will throw an event that you listen for. The server is the response formatter. The piece of the puzzle that you're missing is that the intent is that this library is used with the author's other library, htmx[0]. With htmx, the expectation is that you're always returning HTML as the response (though there are extensions available so you can return JSON that could be processed against a client-side handlebars template).

Yes, a derivative called UniBasic (which is itself a derivative of Pick BASIC) but the system it's used with provides an additional set of extensions to the language. UniBasic + extensions results in a language referred to as Envision.

Wow. This is the last thing I expected to see on HN.

I worked for the IT department at the University of Evansville for many years, leaving just three years ago. I've had more than one run-in with this particular site. This site is maintained by hand (no auto-gen) by Dr. Kimberling. He's an extremely smart individual (I've had many classes with him), and he prefers to keep things simple.

Until about 2 year prior to me leaving he kept a secondary computer in his office that was only for running QBasic (an old AMD-K6 running Windows 2K, off the network). He finally gave that up and transitioned to using Mathematica.
