Isn't this collateral damage of waging war with a terrorist organisation embedded in civilian population? I don't this this counts for genocide, as sad as the results are...

I thought I'd get some better take on the situation here then in the rest of social media but apparently that's difficult to come by. Especially when discussing a 100 years old conflict.
I can't see how any leftist could support Oct 7 events, and call it resistance or freedom fighting in some form. Just for context, if Hamas would have targeted military positions in the attack, then it would have been possible to say they are fighting for some liberation goal. But as this is not the case and they clearly targeted civilians locations like a rave party and villages, it's clear that this was not their goal, but their goal was to inflict terror on Israeli population.
My take is that in this long fought battle both sides made wrongdoings, but we need to be very clear and nuanced about each event. In this case it's clear that Hamas, and I may say that since Hamas is a popular movement, the Palestine public in Gaza in genera, made a grave mistake and now suffer the consequences of that decision as there is very little possibility for Israel to defeat Hamas without causing civilian casualties when they are some embedded within the population.
In this sense President Biden approach makes perfect sense; defeat Hamas with minimal civilian casualties.
The Palestines deserve better, but I think that as long as they stay fixated on the results of the 1948 war, and do not agree to let that stay in the past, there will be no end in sight.

I had the same issues with x1c7. The most annoying one was the mic not working. I was really frustrated saying I should have gone for Dell. I read somewhere that Ubuntu 20.04 solves some of the problems and it did! Everything works now - mic and fingerprint reader included.
Maybe now that Lenovo will supply a Linux distro, other distros will be better supported on new models as well.

I'm also pretty disappointed with x1c7 Linux compatibility. I'm using Ubuntu 19.10 and it's not a smooth ride. I wish Lenovo had a Dell Sputnik like Linux support. Ubuntu 20.04 have been said to have better support.

> There is no true self in figuring out the meaning of something. Meaning comes from personally conducting the chaos of one's life (which is "the way"). To philosophize (or similar) something is to step too far into order (e.g. classifying objects instead of seeing an object as an action/existence), and to submit, yield, or do nothing is to step too far into chaos.
That's a great explanation.

Man, I feel close to what you feel. By the end of the week I'm so burned out.
I have 2 (at least) voices competing. One wants to experience life fully, and one that is eager to achieve results and wants to be "someone" and get somewhere. It can be a real struggle.
I feel like finding a way to let go of being "the best" (I also tend to study in the evenings), just being average me, is what can bring about real change, but it will take a lot of effort since it is deeply rooted in me.

> Think of human activity as lying on a spectrum of mental effort. You probably need activities that lie somewhere in the middle range of energy and complexity. Work is probably on the higher end: an continuously exhausting challenge. Vegging out in front of the TV is the lower end: relaxing, but unfulfilling and boring.
> If the only mentally engaging activity you ever do is work, then every time you get bored, you will jump straight into overdrive just by THINKING about it. This will actually wear you out even if it's only 30 hours a week or 20 hours. You need activities that are only a little bit challenging to distract you from the big one.
That's a very interesting way to look at it. Problem is I'm too tired during to pick anything up after work. I really feel that if I can reduce the amount of mental energy I consume at work, I'll actually have the desire to pick up the guitar or something like that.
Maybe using something like the pomodoro technique can help with that, and then taking more breaks. I think one of my problems is though, that my ambition takeover and I want to get just one more thing done. I feel like I need to produce better results, etc.
