This is the most reasonable comment here on the topic. Everything else so far is either blatantly political and/or misunderstands market dynamics.
Unfortunately half the comments I read on here are becoming increasingly more reddit-esque. Users posting emotionally charged comments and speaking with an authoritative voice on topics they have little experience or knowledge in an accordingly Hacker News has become more and more useless as a news source.

Goalpost shifting
Lol -2 billion in net income is exactly what I think it is saying. Are we saying Ford is committing accounting fraud or trickery?
"It's super easy for a company to make up additional overhead above and beyond gross profits to disappear everything."
What about administrative costs? What about debt? Do we ignore everything besides COGS?
Dividend payments, stock buybacks, etc are not ways to disappear everything. They are ways to make their stock attractive to buyers, keep them in dividend indices, etc
How is this whole thread ignoring standard accounting and the reality of properly running a business?

That Ford 23 billion number you are citing is Gross Profit, not NET
This number ignores expenses that are not involved with the product and cost of goods sold.
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/g/grossprofit.asp#toc-gro...
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/F/financials?p=F
"You should really sit down and do the math on this stuff."
Before coming in hot with numbers and firing back I would check what you are saying first.

I think you really underestimate the intelligence of the average CS grad. No way the average iq is under 100. Even to get past the prereq's for a CS degree like calculus you are not going to find many under 100 (let alone going on to graduate)

I see this as well and it looks to be multiple people buying in to the campaign, especially here on HN.
Having lived in a new, high end apartment that had a heat pump for both heating and cooling for 3 years, I am very unimpressed with the tech. Running nonstop, couldn't heat/cool above/below a certain threshold. Electric bill very high. Clogged and broke a lot. If the general radiant heat and cooling from being in large building didn't exist, I couldn't see this working halfway decent in any place in the midwest. This might work for areas with less variable temperature ranges but for the midwest USA, not seeing it.

Are there any API's to create your own streaming service without making a deal with Universal or another studio and hosting yourself?
https://developer.amazon.com/docs/music/API_browse_overview.html
In the API docs above, a user can login with an amazon account and MUST conform to the Amazons music player settings. This would also require an Amazon music subscription.
Ideally, users would subscribe through a created service and then behind the scenes the service accesses the music streaming library, not requiring an existing music service subscription. It would be nice as well to have access to high fidelity streams like those available on Qobuz or Tidal.
Do any of these exist or is this pretty much not possible in this industry.
Thanks ;)
