Just read Wittgenstein (The Blue+Brown Books / Philosophical investigations), and this confusion will go away. The difference between translation, definition, and explanation needs to be understood.

Christianson and Chater's "The Language Game". This book changed the way I viewed everything, and also led me to read "The Philisophical Investigations", which I would also put up there.

Group theory.

Something is incredibly beautiful to me about classifying the kinds of symmetry things can have.

I’m trying to understand where the sporadic simple groups come from. Starting with the Matthieu groups. So far it seems to be due to some anomaly in Pascal’s triangle, but I’m still trying to put it together. “Another Roof” on YouTube has a good video about this.
