I am pretty sure not most of them. In something like linux, that is the case, but I think there are so many other projects that barely receive financial or any other kind of support

A few years ago I got the m1 macbook air (lovely hardware!). Some software update fully bricked it, which is really annoying already. Then I found out the only way to restore it was to connect it to another macbook. That was it for me.

This is very relevant. A bunch of tech workers in the US are legal immigrants that, but for the safety that their visa provides, would be hunted by this inhuman organization.
