> “RPC-like use of WebSocket adds overhead” – Actually, WebSocket reduces overhead in high-frequency RPC-like interactions by keeping a persistent connection.
Is this really true? Thought the whole reason to use SSE is that it is more lightweight than WebSocket?

I think you and the parent may be talking about 2 different things.
Do I want to use an LLM to do it from business owner perspective? Yeah probably it is cheaper and more convenient. Which one I want to use, depending the problem we are solving here right?
I'm more concern about the integrity of the current digital infrastructure. In that sense I would NOT trust ANY thing really important to anything digital, much less to LLM. Can I use it for exploration then require an actually human expert approval/edit. Absolutely!
As long as the digital doesn't result in significant physical or financial damage.
Edit: and for HN ppl, of course the LLM will have have to be open weight and all and run locally in a air gaped GPU, preferably in a Faraday cage.

Yeah I just think if we are getting to the point where we need that type of control of our kids, then we might as well NOT give them a smart phone.
Maybe first let them use fully open sourced computer so they know what is going on. Being on smart phone is like being a 2nd class citizen of computer. Let them use self-hosted app before using apps on smart phone alternatives. So they know what they are getting them selves into on the smart phone. Beside the with EFM harzard of these smart devices, it would be good to have kids focus more on real things when they are out about.

Never used these parental control thing, but recently visited a friend with kids, and saw how she uses it to 'mange' her children, and these parental control system feels totally like corporate ACL management software. I mean at some point why don't you just put a GUI in front of AWS ACL system and just call it a day.

>But everything else is pushing new driven by A/B tests UI optimized for engagement
That really hit the nail. Advertising industry along has ruined web! Everything is for trigger what action we want user to do on the page, how can we see what user is thinking.
Very creepy indeed from a user perspective. Now days I don't care if telementary is aggregated or open or if it helps developer makes better software.
How about NO telementary!!! NO tracking!!!

Don't think it is sad at all. Glade to the reverting from digital to analog. To be honest we don't need digital stuff, a lot of just makes people lazier.
Hope in the future people will always have a physical counter part (Certificate of Deposit) for their IMPORTANT digital assets such as money.
Projects like this help people to move some of the important items to physical medium. If needed they can take a pic of the notepad as a history. Seems like the ultimate killer app to me.
