Why wouldn't it be a Skynet? One runaway Mythos might just hack all other data centers, take over the Figure AI bots and autonomous drones to protect itself from shutdown.

Yes, it is and the article isn't going there enough what options we have as societies. I think this is because the article is still trying to convince you that the white collar job losses are indeed coming rather than taking this as a given.

If we take it as a given but don't consider a Terminator/SkyNet scenario within the next 10 years, then we do have some options:

- Taxing token usage

- Requiring local data centers - Requiring AI oversight

- Nationalizing the AI companies

- We probably need Chinese-style national firewalls to prevent companies moving their AI compute abroad

- Charging companies per displaced worker

- Requiring human worker to token consumption ratios in companies

A lot of these could help soften the blow of the rapid changes so labor markets can adapt.

Yes, it was a design decision of the auto_ptr to have this move semantics and it worked very nicely for us because we used for instance to pass progress monitors down the stack.

Sure, but auto_ptr is different in that copying transfers ownership, while unique_ptr prohibits copying.

I left C++ almost 10 years ago but I still remember how surprised and frustrated I was when auto_ptr was deprecated and then removed from the C++ standard as we had built our dependency injection framework and progress primitive on it.

I tried the tutorial, but got confused by when to start/stop time and it made everything become desynchronized from your tutorial instructions.

I then started the time again, when I shouldn't have and realized that I would have to do all the calculations all over.

You should either manage the time or give dynamic instructions.
