<p>It's unexpectedly mutable unless you've closely read the documentation, been bitten by the mutations, or are doing very simple date manipulations.<p>It's a great library, but it does need fewer footguns. date-fns is a good alternative.</p>

<p>When I started my career I had a very keen interest in the embedded space, but when it pays half of what CRUD webapps pay I quickly changed to software only. I still tinker with embedded on the side and maybe at some point I can justify the cut in pay to go back to something I'd prefer to work on.</p>

<p>In the US it's common for entry level or apprentice to be the ones making a trench on residential jobs. It's part of the hazing culture, my best guess, that the older workers pass down. I hired electricians and they did the trenchwork with shovels.</p>

<p>>  It feels wrong to me that a streaming service is able to modify video however it pleases.<p>This would significantly complicate services such as Twitch and YT Live going to server-side ad insertion if the source video were E2E. I think server-side ad insertion is likely the only method available for providers that isn't able to be circumvented by ad-block or DNS blocking plugins.</p>
