Working on adding MPD [1] client mode to my music player: https://github.com/olegantonyan/mpz
Currently it works as standalone player. Addition of MPD client mode opens possibility to play music on a separate device while keeping the UX of the music player that I like.
[1] https://www.musicpd.org/

In dynamic languages things like autocomplete often make it worse, they cannot identify the correct types and locations 100% of the times. So at some point I decided to avoid these and got used to it. To the point where I avoid QtCreator for Qt/C++ projects b/c autocomplete and fancy navigation features become annoying and distracting

Yep, that's what it leads to. But it all began with "good" intentions. They destroyed well-developed empire, took the land from the rich and see where it all now. Trust me, you don't want "to take money from the rich and spread them across poor" in USA, it sucks https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dekulakization.
The headline itself literally repeats Marxists theory: the means of production belong to workers aka proletartiat. Inside the article they oppose this working class to "evil rich CEOs" aka bourgeoisie. I won't even go deeper to unrelated to the article topics like "evil imperialism" and other nowadays popular in the west ideas used by Lenin&co hundred years ago. This crap cannibalizes the very foundation of the success of the western civilization and many people fall into this - that's insane to me

PipeWire is drop-in replacement for pshshaudio with additional features (while preserving pshsh part sometimes). Only difference is 15 years ago half of the problems with sound were fixed by uninstalling pulseaudio as it was in early stages full of bugs but still pushed to many distros similar to systemd. Today's pipewire is as easy as uninstalling pulseaudio, installing pipewire, and most of the times it will continue working

Switched to Linux in Windows' "golden age" - XP. Never looked back. There's one thing that reminds me that old Windows - cloud providers. Their configuration in UI looks a lot like group policies on Windows. Every time I have to deal with those IAM permissions in Google Cloud I get flashbacks, except now the UI is much slower

EE promotion was a thing via local clubs for kids (aka future workforce to build missiles). But the choice of components those clubs had was limited, so if you find a schemtics for some cool device in "Radio" magazine chances are you won't be able to find all components for it in such club. This sometimes was even mentioned in the article itslef - like you need this transistor which is not available to general public, but "we all know where to get it ;)"

Russia 90-2000. Few common spots to find electronic components were:
1) dumpsters - literally, after school we went on a hunt for thrown away TVs and other stuff. Especailly near factories. We knew some common spots to loot and visited them periodically. Many of those logic/gates/counters ICs I had came from one junkyard near the industrial zone - they used to "respawn" in a form of pcbs from old mainframes or something like that (pcbs were varnished and removeing ics was huge pain in a butt)
2) TV repair shops. They usually had some stuff they don't need and with enough persistence (aka soft skills) we as kids were able to get some goodies, along with books and advice.
3) Absolute treasure - someone working at a factory that is miraculously not closed yet - getting aka stealing stuff for them was easy. Stealing stuff from school and other places we could gain access to was also a thing - they often had a lot of old crap sitting in basement, like record players, amplifiers.
4) Radio markets and shops. These were often out of reach for kids especially in that period, but sometimes we were able to save enough money for something that can be purchased but not found elsewhere. The choice was also very limitted, but I found few ex-engineers selling a lot of goodies stolen during their employment - selling these was ofter the only way to survive, but again with enough "soft skills" we were able to "loot" them for free.
5) In soviet era there were a lot of clubs for kids/teenagers, even in small towns you could find a club with teacher where everyone can come and learn how to build some electronic stuff. Those usually had access to element base. During 90s most of them have closed, those who survived were barely afloat in this new world. I personally never had a good experience with those, but know that someone did, so getting goodies there was also a possibility.
