All this talk of frontier models and replacing developers leaves me wondering how energy efficient this all is compared to just using human labor. The costs of R&D has to be calculated into the equation, especially considering global warming. I get a sense we are cooking the planet doing this.

Anyone smart enough here to make the comparison?

To me the biggest problem w. libertarianism & game theory etcetera is that humans are not only motivated by greed/personal gain.

Pure anecdata; the libertarian/capitalist anarchists I've met have all been close to sociopathic in their disregard for others. I always figured that people who have an underdeveloped sense of empathy project this onto everyone else.

From what I know the Islamic republic was founded in part as a reaction to US & British meddling in the internal Iranian affairs. Do you really think the US can achieve anything positive by putting troops on the ground? Have you learned nothing from Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam or Korea?
