As always with standards EPC QR is not only one in europe. In Czechia for example the QR codes are extremely popular but since they were introduced before EPC QR they are in SPAYD format. I think they became popular because instant payments between czech banks were introduced sooner than in the SEPA network.

Maybe that's why they were separate formats BUT afaik even SPAYD uses IBAN account numbers. So I have no idea why there are both of these, they are just syntax. The main difference being that SPAYD is key:value pair separated by * and EPC is fixed position, line delimited. I personally think SPAYD is more human readable and extensible BUT i guess less efficient. Not that it would matter i would prefer the one that's universal.

It's not strange at all. For example if your money are used for political causes you don't like then you should absolutely send the money to alternatives instead.

In terms of greenhouse it also depends on type of meat. Very acidental but europeans eat much less beef and eat pork/chicken instead. Chicken protein for example is in many cases better than cheese emission wise.

Also i don't think europeans don't use AC to save the planet. It's just expensive and it didn't use to be a problem.

To be fair DHH became exceedingly unhinged.

For example in his latest blog post he first describes problem of growing populations of wolves that are killing sheep and cannot be shot because they are protected by the state. And then starts to compare the situation with danish gypsies (Romani) in danish cities.

That's as close to fascism as you can get... it's pretty out there on the edge of legality.

I mean I used to respect his (at the time mainly technical) takes and I recommended Basecamp to so many organizations. How has this table turned so much I have no idea.

Github is social network. People follow other peoples profiles, people discover projects using "explore", trending and star system.

Codeberg has some of these features but the networking effect there is pretty weak because there are way fewer people. Almost Every programmer is on Github.

Depends if you require just public space for the project or if you also need the project to be part of social media network of Github. As "forge" Codeberg is pretty great. I use both Codeberg instance and my selfhosted Forgejo instance (the software behind codeberg) and have no problems with it.

It's safe to say it's reasonable to majority of codeberg members. It doesn't really matter if it seems unreasonable from the outside.

Yes it's community run and you have to be member to get a vote. Paying fees as member is one of the most common ways how similar structures work outside software. Even politcal parties work this way.

It's not a dump to put anything you have stored in git.

Is it? From what i could find Anthropic and OpenAI are hovering around 5000 employees where as Deepseek and Moonshot are more like 300. The funding/investments are similarly many times less.

I agree that 300 employees is not a small company but the overall outlook for Anthropic/OpenAI is not geat.

You can indeed install everything manually (it won't be just lutris though, there are many possible tweaks).

SteamOS/Bazzite/uBlue project are Linux distros with immutable core. The immutable part is tweaked, tested, fixed in time and can be easily switched/rolled back. Many people (me included) find it much nicer experience to get some battery included base that someone more competent put together and that can't be easily broken. So instead of figuring out how to put linux parts together you find immutable distro that fits most of what you need and then install just what is missing.

Controversial proposals like Chat control are often pushed by hard lobby through the current eu presidency state because of their possition. It is likely that if Denmark wasn't heading eu at the time they would have little to do with Chat control. Also likely they were one of the more resilient countries to propose this.
