Do you mean something like rerouting you to make sure you pass a mcdonald’s at lunch time? Or are you talking about mcdonald’s always showing up when you search for food along your route? Rerouting would surprise me, but really it wouldn’t surprise me that much at this point.

Sorry, I misread “liners” as “linens”, and it seemed just strange to have a disposable piece of linen paired with a cloth diaper. What you’re really describing seems like a great idea to make cloth diapers doable for weak-stomach people like me.

I’ll give a simplified example of something I have at work right now. The program moves data from the old system to the new system. It started out moving a couple of simple data types that were basically the same thing by different names. It was a great candidate for reusing a method. Then a third type was introduced that required a little extra processing in the middle. We updated the method with a flag to do that extra processing. One at a time, we added 20 more data types that each had slightly different needs. Now the formerly simple method is a beast with several arguments that change the flow enough that there are a probably just a few lines that get run for all the types. If we didn’t happen to start with two similar types we probably wouldn’t have built this spaghetti monster.

The people who will benefit from a cooldown weren’t reviewing updates anyway. Without the cooldown they would just be one more malware victim. If you don’t review code before you update, it just makes sense to wait until others have. Despite what the article says, the only people who benefit from a rush to update are the malware spreaders.
