I’ve switched to Ubuntu too but my muscle memory is Redhat so still sometimes annoying- never got into Debian though

That idea that people believed Nikola is crazy. I read the report. The cto was a concrete guy family member or something. The vehicle they used to show things working was rolling down a hill - I’m just amazed that so few look closely enough at this stuff. Didn’t read the adani report beyond auditor stuff which also seemed shaky

Uhh - I came ready to blame Airbnb as I no longer use them. However - you obviously can’t do third party bookings and if a host has had third party booking issues (Airbnb will not cover these at all) I think hosts will have a very negative reaction to a third party booking.

Maybe blame Airbnb for not being clearer, but the profile photo / ID verification stuff is designed for the guest.

Do people do third party dating or car reservations etc?

Fwiw I think Darl may still be playing some games w his bankruptcy filings. Just an opinion but I’d be curious if he’s had multiple recent filings and if any have been dismissed (ie failure to disclose etc). I took a quick glance at a court docket - I’m no expert but it didn’t look good at first glance

What are you rewriting from? At director level focus is usually more on things like how easy is it to staff / get support for something. Python is strong here - you can find programmers globally who can do pretty well with it.

Premium brands like apple and Samsung already do have various restrictions and limits if things haven’t been authenticated- cables, they’ve done warnings around batteries and likely to expand - made for iPhone has been around forever

When Amazon wasn’t responsive enough they pulled their products and sued suppliers using fulfilled by amazon. USB-if by comparison does nothing and neither do govt agencies- apple is perhaps most active in its enforcement efforts

My father in his 70s has stuck with one of these old phones. I keep on expecting them to end security updates - no go. The idea that apple makes unrepairable throwaway phones makes me laugh. Easier to resell and easy to get fixed (I use applecare with no complaints)

Fantastic. I do hope Seattle also attends to what used to be kind of core govt functions for qol items. Been a bit bummed at big govt performance on crime, education etc

In my area it’s still a sellers market, we struggle to get folks. Yes, industry articles talking about the continued shortage in area X. So we have hired folks who have had shorter tenures / been laid off etc. I think sometimes folks can be a bit blind to why they’ve ended up getting laid off especially if it’s been repeatedly because it can become obvious.

I absolutely understand- but is still amazingly cheap. The install was not simple. Despite being oversubscribed I get good speeds both ways. Most devices on my network can only handle 1 gig though my vmware/ synology stuff is 10g. I have business service from att at a different location - Even ordering process was kind of annoying- you get a rep and going around on price / term etc takes a bit vs clicking buy now.

At home I pay for 5 but just need 2. I have failover to comcast. Works well . And yes I do get reported outages on the att side but because failover works I’ve not chased things down.

The bug reporter is claiming there is a mass exodus from Ubuntu - is this really the case? I’m seeing more Amazon / Ubuntu/ mainstream distro stuff these days then I feel like I used to 10-15 years ago.

Is this mass exodus moving to Debian for things like Amazon AMI’s?

Nvidia delivered a good solution with cuda. You are whining about them not investing as hard in opencl. What if focusing on cuda was what they thought would let them deliver a good result for users? Lack of focus and sustained investment is part of issue w amd and others. If openCL is the hot thing that nvidia supposedly purposely delaying was a great opportunity for amd and intel to eat their lunch. Where were they?
