By "read content in their second language", do you mean "read content originally authored in their second language" or "read content auto-translated to their second language for the sake of language practice"?

I tried this experiment out and it is right on the money. The ad I got was AI generated video with AI script & audio selling fake 16TB SSDs. Wonder if anybody has some insider info on how these ads are produced at scale / who's behind them

Hi,

Question for PL nerds: has there been any evidence that AI is killing the rise of new programming languages? More specifically, in the last 3 years, has there been a single language that's entered the "you can definitely get a job writing this" category?

I'm relatively new to the field (fresh CS grad), but I've been coding long enough to at least see typescript rise to prominence and rust go from sort of small to fairly popular within its niche. All of that seems like ancient history at this point, and in the case of rust part of its rise was due to government regulation, rather than organic popularity amongst devs.

It seems to vary a lot by the day. HN still has enough good days so I keep checking, but on the bad days I just go to lobste.rs and usually there’s something quality to read over there
