If someone uses wine, would you be so kind to post here for what programs?
Wine would be interesting for Photoshop due to the GIMP CMYK problems. I run Photoshop on Wine many years ago. I just needed it recently and did not get it to work. I had to use a Virtual Machine.

Agreed. A plain number as an answer could give you zero points. It is always UNITS UNITS UNITS. 10 what? Kg? Apples? kW?
I remember actually a chemistry test where I did not use units in an important calculation but only in the answer. If I had used units I would have realized that I totally fucked up. I went belly up. :-(
Dimensional analysis was part of my degree but honestly, I remember little.

This is not a joke. I have been in prison abroad for nearly two years. A total nightmare. I have nearly lost everything. Not made CC payments in 2 years etc. The US embassy was of little help, mainly because I am a dual citizen. Be assured that this is something that will change very soon. Some things would count as torture that I experienced in this prison (I was 5 month without any contact to my public defender, he never picked up his phone. I wanted to call the US embassy but was denied, finally they declared me crazy for claiming to be a US citizen and I was put in solitary confinement in a cell that was video monitored 24/7.
All this is over now. I was released unexpected yesterday. Now I try to heal and recover.
A friend of mine was able, to at least some extent, to pay for some of my domains. While my main email seems lost (he forgot to pay for email hosting), my main email/domain address seems to be saved. Just have to set up some email hosting for this domain.
0. Main email at my own domain. All emails probably lost, but domain still active. Have to buy email hosting. No working CC left but I figure it out.
1. Facebook. May get back in again. They offer a ID upload option to get back. Thanks god.
2. Gmail. Big issue. I have my computer back and hoped to be able to just log-in based on cockie settings. But this does not work. The account is linked to my google project fi phone. The service is of cause out of service now. I probably lost my very valuable phone number. The phone itself, I kid you not, broke 10 days before I got arrested. It was shipped back to me repaired but I don't have it in my hands yet and I vaguely remember they always do a factory reset.
My Project fi phone probably expired. I feel lost. Any ideas?

I will re-post later. Please understand that I am still very confused and that I want to keep many things private. And while I understand your curiosity, this is not an AMA.
No, not China. I was imprisoned in a western EU country. The things that happened I had considered impossible in a rule of law country. I am a dual citizen, otherwise it would have been impossible to arrest me. I have family here and I am still in this country. Not in the same federal state but still in the same country. When I was released out of the blue I felt like leaving immediately but after some hours decided to travel to my family. I have 2k USD in cash with me. So no worries. I have a place to sleep for a few days and money. I expect to have a EU CC working within 1 or 2 days. I will fly to the US in 1 month, maybe two. Don't know yet. Everything is difficult. I had a fiancee before I got arrested etc.

Well, we all know these houses a in bad shape and require a major investment but I don't think this is a problem.
Fact is, you will create a tax liability there since most of this programs don't only require you to renovate the house, they also expect you to move there. . As much as I love Italy, I would not take the house with 50k USD on top of it for free.
Don't worry. Other countries will follow soon as online work becomes more available and the societies overage more. For some countries a collapse may be unavoidable. Crazy real estate prices? No retirement for you but please pay the retirement for the boomers? Sky high taxes? Good luck!

Locking backward, basically most things are "obvious".
"someone who is skilled in the art?"
This is another questions. What is "skilled"? Most patent courts assume an average person from the field of the invention and not an extraordinary specialist.

I don't know about the Panama Canal, but the rest is true (mainly UK).
" ... transporting porcelain and whatever other goods China exported at the time."
China exported Silk, porcelain and tea like the is no tomorrow but did not buy anything. At one point China accumulated a huge part of the world silver reserves, sucking liquidity out of the western economy. Opium "solved" this problem.
It was my understanding that the Opium trade was mainly a GB thing. I was not aware that the US was involved.
